To arrange the exams for the MCDST you will have to buy exam vouchers. You can buy them from the test centre themselves: www.vue.com or www.prometric.com (both of them will have various test centres thru-out the world, or an alternative is to buy them from a reseller like www.getcertifiedforless.com (which are normally cheaper but you will still have to take the test at one of the testing centres).

As for what books/CD-roms, the ones that I recommend are:

Books:

1.Sybex: MCDST: Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician Study Guide: Exams 70-271 and 70-272
2. MOC 2261B & 2262B (Microsoft offical study books - the B at the end of the numbers are the version number - B is what I have, I don't know the newset one)

CD-ROM/CBT:

1. Transcender are normally quite good for test sims
2. Learnkey training for the 70-271 & 272 are very good.
3. CBT Nuggets are ok, but in my opinion not as good as learnkey.
