HOORAY! After 2 years absence from The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, this afternoon (via a quick pitstop in the Bahamas) I'll be making my way back to the land of hope and glory and VAT for one week only!!!!

I guess 2 years isn't that long but actually giving it a quick look I noticed a couple of things have changed. Most notably the smoking ban. That will be weird, even though I am an ex-smoker, though am partial to the odd cuban see-garrr!

Also the cost of fuel, I thought it was bad here in Cayman at CI$5.35 an imperial gallon but bloody hell the prices in the UK were 80 to 84p a litre when I left, what are they now? Well in excess of a quid?

My girlfriend is a smoker however, I was too when I was last in the UK, I believe cigs were about 5.00 a pack back then, what's the average price for a pack of Marlboro these days in Ye Olde London Towne?

Heck even the Prime Minister has changed since I was last there haha! What else has changed in the UK over the last couple of years, besides I Richard & Judy still being allowed on TV?

tabs are about 5:50 for Malboro but I have seen them in a service station for £7:48:blink

Richard & Judy are still on the air and they still suck.

Gordon Brown sucks just about everything sucks.

Your probably best to stay where you are, you'll get depressed if you come over here.

It's about 32c + heat index here right now during the day and 28c + heat index at night. Though it's the same all year round maybe changing by a degree here and there.

The weather report today said Cayman is due showers all week though so am glad to be getting out of here for that!

22c? I wonder if that will feel cold? I'm packin a jumper just incase as I might need to re-climatize myself for the first day or two!

edit: correction, a colleague tells me in August at peak hurricane season we usually max out around 40c-45c + heat index. That coupled with the warm water, window tax and proposed changes to the LBW rule in cricket all equate to a Cat 5 hurricane.

That was just on the motorway service station, cheaper in shops.

Up North its a couple of quid for a Pint, some places £2.50 so it'll be more down south.

London prices aren't too bad - in most pubs you can get a pint of Carling/Fosters/cheap lager for about £2.10, a barrel-poured ale about £2.40, some places £3 but most are below that.
