Just to digress slightly, when you start talking about telecomunications (that phones to the rest of us) the industry is full of TLA's eg

    CFW - call forwarding
    EFW - external call forward
    SCL - speed call list
    CPK - call pick up

the list goes on and on

My original intention was indeed netspeak, but that fairly quickly evolved to include the common TLAs associated with the IT sector, and predominantly related to the common ones we encounter during our certs. Can't see a prob with that.

Obviously tho, the thread just developed naturally, but with at least some relation to the subject in hand....

NDIS (network driver interface specification) - I got major brownie points at work recently, cos the boss didn't know what NDIS-compliance was all about.

    Have we mentioned

API (application programme interface) Cornerstone to developers' coding Windows apps

I've always liked RAS syndrome - Redundant Acronym Syndrome syndrome.
Good examples are PIN number (or PIN identification number, or Personal PIN number, etc etc...), GUI interface, and LCD display.
    More at:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAS_syndrome

For acronyms, you can't beat the world of Biochemistry:
DNA RNA mRNA tRNA ATP ADP AMP cAMP cGTP GDP MCM CDC
If you can expand all of the above i'll be impressed!
    MAP (Mitogen Activated Protein)
    MAPK (Mitogen Activated Protein Kinase)
MAPKK (Mitogen Activated Protein Kinase Kinase)
MAPKKK (Mitogen Activated Protein Kinase Kinase Kinase)
MAPKKKK (I'm not kidding here, the series goes on...)

Blimey, I've just used my Biochem degree for something!
