Got a MK5 GTI myself and love it! You may want to try the MK5 Golf GTI Edition 30 which has 30bhp extra! Not sure what your budget is so its difficult to suggest anything else

    well done.

Are you going to do pass plus or advanced driving to get the cost of insurance down?

I did the pass plus after I passed my test, I know they still have it but it might be called something different now.

you do courses on night driving, driving in wet and motorways when you pass it you can get cheaper insurance and if you do advanced driving test you can get even more off too.

Yep they are both 55 plate. The Audi has 37k on it and it £9999 and the type r has 23k on it and is £9750.

I have driven a s3 and they are hard to get especially in my budget which is 10k and with low mileage.

If it had to be an Audi, I wouldn't go with the A3 as the interior just isn't the same thing as in the A4/5 or higher models (the R8 is a dream...).

One thing to remember with the Audi, is that repairs won't be cheap. If something goes boom with the Turbo or something else fails, those German engineers will know how to make your wallet bleed with the cost of parts. Now if you were to have a good long warranty with that thing, then that's another thing all together :)

But I don't think you'd be disappointed with a Civic under your belt.

demarrer: I enjoyed a supercharged Exige once, and... I think the whine of the supercharger coupled by the road noise when charging down the country roads left me a little beat out :) But what a car!!!

    Hey, I have a 1 litre 107. It's like driving a go-kart, awesome fun :biggrin

The Civic Type-R is on my hitlist of "do want" cars. As in realistic, I could own this within 5 years cars, not the kind of things Jeremy Clarkson rags on Top Gear and calls crap.

So yeah, go for the Type R. lol.

Do you have a family? does it have to have more than 2 seats? if not then definitely have a look at the 350Z, one of the best cars I have ever owned and a drive that will quite simply inplant a wide grin onto your face :D

They are relatively cheap these days as well, you should be able to pick up one for about the same price (and they only officially came out here in 03 as well).

Yeah GBL, real men only drive RWD cars, like my first RWD sports car I had a few years ago. Just don't ask about the bus stop incedent. :)

Focus ST or Mondeo ST220...a lot of bang for your buck plus they both p!ss all over the same class Audi, Golfs, Beemers and the newer Type R (which is no where near as fast as the previous model)! And to add insult to injury to the 'well built, German cars are the best' brigade they're both Fords!

Mondeo ST220 review by Clackson here

The exhaust note of an ST220 is second to none!
