Recently read 'Tales from the Time Loop' by David Icke. Not sure about the reptiles bit, but some of the points he makes are quite interesting. He utterly lambasts the 'financial system', how everyone's life depends on a set of digits on a computer screen, and this was back in 2003 before the financial 'crisis'. The stuff he says about the origin of the Jews, and about subliminal messages in advertising etc are very interesting. He says wealth of Bush family traces back to the IG Farben company, the company which ran Auschwitz concentration camp. He says 'reality' is some kind of hologram we experience within a matrix.

Also recently read couple of short books by Paul Arden former Satchi advertising executive :- Whatever You Think, Think The Opposite, and God Explained In A Taxi Ride.

Most recent books I bought were Everything is Connected by Daniel Barenboim the conductor and pianist, Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler (no don't worry I'm not planning to join the facist party), Susan Boyle Living The Dream, How To Rap (a book about Hip Hop music and lyric writing), Mammoth Book Of Horror Comics, plus quite a few more.

Getting the time to read them is another matter though.

Currently reading Music Of The Primes by Marcus du Sautoy. Cracking book about the quest to prove the Riemann hyothesis.

Just finished Foul by Andrew Jennings - about the most corrupt organisation in the world (FIFA) - read it before, but was nice to re-read it and take it all in properly this time

Next up is Nuclear Jellyfish by Tim Dorsey - one of my favourite authours (similar to Carl Hiaasen, if anyone likes him they'll like Dorsey)

Unseen Academicals by Terry Pratchett. That was 7/24 so far.

Current is Wizards First Rule (again) by Terry Goodkind, soon to be followed by the next 9 or so books in the series, only book 4 or 5 was available last time I read them.

just finished the emperor series by Conn Igulden 4 books (fact based with a bit of fiction) about the life of Julius Ceaser, quality reading, quality writter and the battle parts are really explicit.

he also writes the conquorer series again 4 books about Genghis Khan, am waiting for the last book to be released in paperback.

while im waiting for that to be released just started To play the fox by Frank Barnard about RAF pilots in WW2, 3 book with the same characters, good read

tend to go with audio books now (for the journey into work), currently re-listening to "the forever war" read it a couple of years ago and listened to it a couple of times recently really enjoyed it. Also love reading the adventures of sherlock holmes, I find the language very inspiring.

I met Joe Abercrombie recently at the SFX weekender, he's a funny guy. Not read his stuff yet but I hear it's very good.

As for the last non IT book I read ... re-reading the Riftwar books by Raymond E Feist at the moment on my Kindle. :)

Lately I only have time to get done a fraction of the reading I would like when it comes to IT books - I've had no time to any reading just for enjoyment! I did pick up a book in the bargain bin not long ago: An Arsonist's Guide to Writers' Homes in New England.. it was ok glad I only paid a few dollars for it though.

It's too bad I don't make more time to read as I really do enjoy it.

    I don't 'do' fiction
the last audiobook I listened to was Escape from Cubicle Nation (last ones were 4 hour body, Delivering Happiness)
the last documentary I watched was Freakanomics (the book was better)
and the last actual book I read cover to cover was Resonate (a follow up to Slideology from Nancy Duarte)
I'm currently reading my Jeppesen Private Pilot textbook and Lync Server 2010 Unleashed

    see, no fiction :)

Some recent titles I have bought are :-

Scotland - A Suitable Case For Treatment

    (the BBC TV historian)

    Amazing Tales by Neil Oliver

Fife The Mining Kingdom by Guthrie Hutton

    Skeem Life by Gary Robertson
    (a 'local' title)

The Poor Had No Lawyers - Who Owns Scotland
(About who grabbed all the land in Scotland and how they managed to get away with it)

The Route Of All Evil by Ezra Pound
(Unorthodox economic theories of Ezra Pound)

The Big Short by Michael Lewis
(Bestselling inside story of the financial crisis)
