I remember far cry really putting your cpu to the test my freind has the game and the graphics are simply amazing on that game but bearing in mind this is from about 4 years ago though :) I assume Far Cry 2 kept up with the graphics standard it was setting.

As for my favourite games, Metal gear solid 2 on the PSone, HALO 2!! (on standard xbox) and love a bit of Age of empires 2 as well

I was and not anymore use to be the dogs bollocks at Halo 2 in all honesty 8) I would have ranked my self in the top 10% of all players on that game, they ****ed up Halo 3 and Halo 3 odst is just another pot of gold for Bungie in there own personal bank vault with gold and cash pouring out of it when ever its opened hahaha.

They made ridiculous sales for Halo 2, If I remember rightly I beleive in its first week of being on the shelfs it was the fastest selling product of any sort in history and by product I mean a vast array of products globally, they must be wiping with $100 bills at Bungie and they do deserve there success.

IMHO they would be the ones Microsoft can thank for there success of the Xbox, and Xbox 360 following Halo 3 (Not so popular but still sold a fair number) oh..... but wait Bungie (Bungie being the game developers of Halo) is owned by Microsoft and is why I beleive Halo was a success as I'm sure Microsoft didn't have any shortage of funding for Bungie going into the Game Developing Industry!!!!!... WORLD DOMINATION for Microsoft

What I loved about Halo 2 is how well the Multiplayer maps were designed and how much attention was given to them in the making in terms of where each nook and cranny was placed and the weapon layout and general feel of the maps. You didn't always need one awsome guy on your team to carry your team to victory, you needed a team who could work as a team providing each team member had more than half a brain and were quick thinkers on there feet, it is the best Multiplayer strategical-online 1st person shooter in History in summary 8).

I got a bit carried away there praising Halo but Legendary game  basically please play Halo 2 if you haven't all ready or at least Halo 3 its a laugh and a blast no matter what your skill level :D

I have to say I am not a Halo fan, finished the first one. Got bored with the second, and I picked up the third to see if it has improved any, so far- not much.

As to why I dont like them, I dont know they just dont push all the right buttons for me - its weird.

    YEAH!!!!!!!!!! I LOVED TOKI!

I forgot to add these gems:

    New Zealand Story (C64)
    Rainbow Islands (C64)
Creatures, Creatures II: Torture Trouble, Mayhem In Monsterland and Nobby The Aardvark (C64) <-- basically anything by the Rowlands brothers aka geniuses.

I'd throw Stunt Car Racer, Power Drift and Tusker in there too.

Wasn't there a Turrican III for C64 although Manfred Trenz had nothing to do with it or it was fan made or something? Would love to play it!

On a console I'd have to say Super Mario Kart on the SNES.

    On a computer, Civilization II.

So many great games down through the years though.

Have you seen the film? It's a real laugh out loud moment when he delivers that line after walking into a bank with a shotgun. Then of course proceeds to start blowing away aliens.

In duke it was a bit meh, because it was already a re-used line. :)

They Live has some of the best one-liners going (and arguably one of the best fight scenes ever), it's also a great sci-fi movie (back when John Carpenter was still making good ones :) ).

edit: Here is part of the scene I was mentioning. Some spoliers for those who actually have yet to see the film though. :) Couldn't get onto youtube to find the scene earlier on, OpenDNS was being a pain for some reason and blocking it. Very odd, ended up disabling it and using my ISP's DNS's as it was irrating me. Anyway, enough rambling. :)

The most profound game I have ever played is Final Fantasy VII.

There were obviously flaws with the title but what Squaresoft managed to do with the limited tech of the PSX in terms of story telling and player involvement remain to this day (quite pathetically I add) far above what has been created since.

Other notable mention for me might be the God of War Franchise and The Elder Scroll series, all of these game's failures tower above other game's successes.

I could seriously spend all day thinking about this! But off the cuff I'd have to say......... no actually I can't answer I really can't. I'm tempted to say something like Fallout 3 but then I think the likes of Halloween 2 on my mates Amstrad CPC464 was brilliant, then if I'm going back I adored Twin Kindown Valley on the Spectrum 48k, Fireant on the Commodore 16+4 and even Jungle Hunt on the Atari 2600 :S And thats not even thinking about my Amiga 600/1200 days as a tean because my head would explode!!

This is a tough one... When I was younger I used to play Mario and Sonic all the time, those games were like the mainstream games for me... Nowadays I find myself playing a lot of CoD games, especially black ops on the PS3... I just got used it and I'd probably have to say that it is one of the best games I've played...

Old thread but hey ho it says all I want to say. By far the best game I've ever played, and again it's still hard with all of the good CODs, Fallout 4 etc. Definitely The Last of Us
