...when you were younger?

this comment got me thinking, what did everyone want to be when they were young?

I started off wanting to be a lion tamer, went through brief phases of wanting to be in music, acting, film, tv, teaching, writing and good knows what else but ended up in IT. It was kind of inevitable really, I've been playing with computers since my lion tamer days!

They were the only two things I ever really wanted to do before I 'found' IT

 

Always wanted to be a fireman, dead set on it. Planned to enrol when I finished my degree. Then, completely randomly, at the age of 21 I developed really heavy hayfever, and then when I started filling in forms for various county fire brigades, got the booklets telling me hay fever suffers would net be accepted.

So now I produce magazines, so I can sneeze all over the place to my heart's content

Actually, no, I always wanted to be a copper.
Ultimately working for special branch and shooting tourists.

It was the only thing I ever considered.
When I left Uni I went for a couple of forces, er, 'services' and got through the process - but unfortunately it was at a time when they were 'resizing' the force and all recruitment went on hold.

So I had to look for something else. It was a bit of a shocker...

Actually, when I was very young I wanted to be Luke Skywalker.

Then as I got into my teens I wanted to be Han Solo.

Now I just want to be Darth Vader.

When I started playing video games, I wanted to first work as a game tester, and then as a game producer.

I eventually did work for a few game companies in game development, but ended up working in IT due to needing "moneyz" (for rent, my feed my gaming habit, etc...).

 

NBA guy!! nowhere near it.

 

A Secret Service agent but most especially a Samurai (still want to become one).

 

How ironic that i'm here having done a few of the erm, "jobs" that you guys wanted to do....

I think I always wanted to be James Bond really.

Then a Return of the Jedi Biker Scout. (loved the forest stormtrooper kit and bike!)

Then back to James Bond.

Come to think of it, i'm 35 and still don't consider myself "grown up." Possibly why i'm divorced and £90k in the hole!!

Should have been an Ewok. eats, shoots and leaves.

 

I wanted to be a Games Programmer when I was younger, and also had my heart set on becomming the first man on Mars



I still reckon there is time for the Mars thing....................

 

The guys who made the original armour are selling them now - £1k for a complete set of Stormtrooper armour.

I really, really want one.

I've got the helmet already...
