Mostly trying to figure out why Kompozer can deal with local .php files on my home rig, with the handcoder extension implemented, without batting an eyelid but has an epic FAIL on the terminal server at work.
We're aiming to switch off the FTP service but we can't until I get this blasted thing working.:x

I guess you could call me second line support as we have a helpdesk that takes calls, logs tickets and routes them to us.

Nothing too meaty was done yesterday, just loads of basic troubleshooting and quick fixes mixed with a bit of admin stuff:

Added a load of external contacts to exchange 2007 and created a distribution group.

Fixed a broken blackberry (after a bit of troubleshooting)

Explained how to use a 3G card to a user who couldn't understand the instructions.

Fixed a users Live Meeting client.

Reset a few passwords, gave a user permission to a shared drive.

Fixed a few glitches with office 2007, we are upgrading users to office 2007 from 2003 and we are having the odd teething problem. big up to google for help with this. :biggrin

    Ordered some more blackberrys.

Usual Friday task of mine, chased lots of "on Hold" tickets I own to see if any of my recommended fixes have solved the users problem, sent emails, left voice mails.

Moaner alert: It really peeves me when you fix something for a customer then ask then to let you know if it has solved the issue (it usually has if you don't hear anymore from them!) you have to bug for feedback to close the ticket sometimes:twisted:

At work yesterday I did the following:

    - A Draytek router was allowing users to authenticate using PPTP. Internal hosts where ping able, but you where unable to connect to the internal SBS Server even after rebooting. So I removed this as the tunnel end point and configured NAT to allow 1723 traffic to the clients SBS 2003 box and configured RRAS on this using policies.
    - Configured 3 x BlackBerrys, 2 on BIS and 1 on BES.
    - Configured various Send As Permissions
    - Sorted out an issue regarding backups for some bespoke software (result was bouncing the server).
    - Drank lots of tea
    - Reconfigured a Cisco VPN Client.
    - Advised a client in relation to bulk email sending.
    - Various other bits and pieces.

    - Trouble shoot a Citrix Access Gateway. Involved going over logs and tracing the problem to the root!
    - BES issues... emails weren't coming into the BB's
    - then some desktop stuff... since I am on my own for 5 weeks, I do both network and desktop support! Gotta love it when S*** hits the fan... everyone comes crumbling down.

Cleaning our active directory of users that have left the firm and backing up data for future reference. I have also been building three enclosures on our HP SAN system with Windows server 2003 and 2008 32 bit and 64 bit respectively.

I must admit it's very in dept in terms of the configuration process i.e. mezzlin cards which enables network communication etc.

Well all in all has been very busy and challenging.

Met a customer in regard to full server refresh for the start of the year. Ran some diags at a customer’s site to help troubleshoot a DC that is locking up randomly.

I suppose I would be 3rd line... On a long term project at the moment though so it's all quite "samey":

Knocked up a chart in SQL Reporting Services then put it on SharePoint for all to see
Finished up a few sql queries for a company-wide KPI project I'm involved in (also SSRS based)
Set up a linked server to the MySQL databases on our traffic shaper for reporting on (again... SSRS based reports for the KPI project!)
Looked into how to create event handlers for MOSS
Read up on a few things for the MOSS Config exam I've got on Saturday morning!

Swore at SQL Server, a lot.

Will be doing the same again today from the looks of things.

Other than that, answered a few user queries and showed an insurance assessor round our IT facilities which prompted a question I've been wondering about since I started here "Why is your comms room directly below 4 toilets?"
