    Hi Guys,

What qualifications are employers looking for for server admin jobs now a days?

I have 10 years technical admin experience with bouts in IT departments but im about to plunge in for my training in C+ , N+ , MCSA Windows server 2003. I wanted to check with you guys for an informed/impartial view that im in the right direction before is sign my life away? [IMG] I like the idea of moving to Linux in the future but I went for windows because of the market saturation.

What quals have you seen being asked for server admin positions?

Wow! That's a hard one to answer. If I understand your question, you want to know what employers are asking for in a successful candidate for this job. It really depends on the environment they need a sysadmin to be familiar with. Wouldn't hurt to go the MCSA route but remember that the vast majority of networks are a real mixed bag of operating systems. I did a quick Google search and came up with a few links:

These are only examples, of course but they should give you some idea of what's out there. Keep in mind that you can't become all things to all people and while it's important to keep your skills marketable, you should also select areas that you seem to have a talent for and that you enjoy. Sure, you might not qualify for every single server admin job on the planet, but you are more likely to land a job you'll like going to everyday.
    Certifications: A+ and Network+
