That I can't get into study mode to smash my VCP and 2008 exams....... I just can't get motivated even though I think it is important to keep your certs up to date :S

What certs you trying to get through just now? I can't imagine it's easy to stay motivated, especially after the number you have done already!

I'm stuggling at the minute to stay motivated studying the CCNP.....i'm hoping if i get this 6 month contract i will feel far more motivated to make sure i have certified all of my experience as there are no guarantees this contract will be extended, so will need to be in the best possible shape when applying for more!

I'm sure it will give you the boost you need to get it smashed mate. I need to do my 2008 upgrade exams mate. It's only 2 exams for me but I just can't get motivated. There's loads of new tricks in 2008 that I'm only half aware of. You are right tho, I've demolished a mad amount of certs since 2009. As I see it tho, 2008 MCITP EA then VCP5 and I'm all done for a good few years, so only 3 exams away from a 3 year cert break I think. I can just focus on gaining more experience and scripting then.

Sounds like a plan. Have you any real timeline to get these done? Maybe a complete break from studying AND thinking (i find even when i'm not actually getting any study done, it's at the back of my mind niggling me for not doing it!) about certs for two or three months, then hit it fresh as a daisy!

    Good luck!

I've quite often seen tasty jobs in london too however I wouldn't apply for them based on the hassle it is to get into london every day and the sheer expense of doing so. A travel card costs me £45 for the day to go to the london vmugs so god only knows how much it would cost to work there all year, plus all the hours spent on sweaty smelly trains and the underground. Thanks but you can keep those jobs I'd rather earn less and spend more time with my wife and kids, that I find find london generally annoying.

It's by no means the money i'm looking at with this.....purely the job. I'd fully expect to be worse off financially if i went there, with the added bonus of hellish commute!

I've no kids right now though so in a roundabout way it makes sense to do something now in order to improve my life and career opportunities 4/5 years from now.

Ah no ties then go for it while you have the chance, personally if I wanted to work in london I'd probably move somewhere close to cut down on travel time and expense they is plenty of opportunity in the smoke. But the old village idiot I am its too busy everything is built so damn high. :)
