Did the core hardware yesterday and passed. However despite having studied for two months using examcram, Testout, Mike Meyers, measureup and even A+ for dummies was shocked at the number of questions (I am aware there were an 20 additional questions but these stood out like a sore thumb) that related to material not in any of the guides. It just goes to show that you can never be 100% prepared. Yes memorize your dma channels irq's etc etc but if your not working in the industry read around the subject ALOT in fact on the buildup to the exam live and breathe A+. If your already in the industry then your lucky but still dont take it lightly.
The only difference i will be making to my revision technique for the core hardware other than a more hands on approach will be too spend more time reviewing additional sources of information too ensure maximum subject coverage. I dont just want to be qualified I want mostly too be capable

Well done on the pass. I took my A+ a while ago but found the same thing.
I also attended a classroom course recently, and the tutor (who had all the certs you can think off and more!) commented that the Comptia exams are always *tricky*.
