I have three Irish Wolfhounds and 1 Maltezer. I do not breed.

Here's a picture of the three. If you look closely, you can see me hiding just behind the dogs.

They are very gentle. They are sometimes called the gentle giants. Gentle when stroked, fiercly when provoked. They walk about 15 kilometers (10 miles) per day. My wife and I take them to the forest for some three hours every day (if I'm not working).

Wow - ten miles a day?? You must both be extremely healthy!! Yes, they do look gentle, but also like you wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of them!!

They are real pussies. Imagen this: Every year we (the Irish Wolfhound Club) have a walk on the beach. Can you picture some 80 of these giants running around? Then after the walk we gather in a cafe to have some soup and bread. The dogs are also inside. Can you imagen 80 dogs (3 feet high and 80 kilograms) laying so close together that they actually touch each other, sometimes even laying on top of each other and not a bark.
    BTW, you said
Didn't you spot me in the picture? If you look between the paws of the dogs, you will see my legs. I was hiding not to disturb the picture.
But here I can be seen in the flesh. www.vocalgroupfranje.nl. I'm the guy with the strange moustage.
If you click on "zangers" and then on my face...

Yes lee, beware of dogs that show their teeth when smiling.:biggrin

Tinus they look like great dogs. Do you keep them in the house with you guys? Or are they outside dogs? And what is that building in the background? Is it made out of logs?

They are great. Well, I would not have them if I would not find the great :biggrin.
The dogs live in the house with us. They have their own kitchen/bathroom/feeding place.
The picture is taken during the anniversary of the club. The building in the back is a castle www.kasteelhoensbroek.nl (the text is in Dutch, but you'll get an impression) and it is build in stone.

we now have 9. One died the other day. I belive it was the one I had to help after it was born and banshee was giving birth to another, I wraped in a towel and dryed it off rubbing it good to stimulate it lungs then laid it under her chin and she took care of it from there. But I just don't think it lungs was develop enough to survie. Today, I found her licking and proding one that was under the others it was dead and she was trying to help it. It had been smooshed I could tell that much but it was too late for her or me to do anything. It was so sad watching her trying to help it. I was ok with the first one, was expecting it but this second one is just depressing. God works in mysterious ways and I trust him to know what is best. :(

It is never pleasant news to hear a puppy has died, but nature has its way. If a pup is not strong enough, it will have problems later on to. It might be small or fragile or coughing a lot. The first one might be better of this way.
Not sure what 'smooshed' means. Do you separate mother and pups during the night?
