    Hello everyone.

I'm just looking to do some self study certification in network support. Not sure what qualifications/courses are best so I'm looking in here for feedback.

    Welcome to CF!:)

CompTIA Network+ would be a good start.

    Hi and welcome to CF!

First of all what qualifications/certifications do you have and also do you have any experience?

I have aeons of varied computing experience from programming, analysis, design - mainly on IBM mainframes - to project management and I also have some academic computing qualifications as part of an OU degree, but no industry standard type qualifications. I have a couple of years PC/network support experience and am looking to formalise my knowledge in this area, most of which has been picked up bit by bit, on the job. I agree with the earlier recommendation that Comptia Network+ would be a good place to start. Anyone recommend a good self-study route and/or provider?

I'd suggest buying the books from Mike Meyers and David Groth and doing it as a self-study.

    BTW - welcome to CF!

Is that the recommended self-study approach? Buy books and then book exam independently when you feel you are ready? Or is it better to go through a company who supply self-study CDs?
What are the titles of these books and how much do they generally cost?

BTW thanks to everyone for welcoming me and giving their advice
