Was there one computer that got you interested in computers?

For me it was the Dragon 32 that started it all off. Then I just wanted every computer going at the time.

I remember many years ago going to scouts and one very lucky kid had brought his computer in to show everyone else. It was a ZX81 hooked up to a huge old black & white TV and we all though it was amazing! A few years later I had a Speccy 48k and the rest is history! :)

I was never part of the Commodore fraternity, maybe this is why .... I came across it yesterday when searching for something totally unrelated to computers on youtube. :)

As for people mentioning computers in lofts ... A flat I was renting about 6 years ago had a loft access in the main bedroom. I decided to have a look in there not long after moving in and dicovered all kinds of junk had been left up there, including an A500 and loads of disks. After the initial excitement of discovery, I put it back up there and it's probably still there. :)

There's worse Commodore ads than that including one with William Shatner :ohmy

'course a lot of people went for CBM as they were using the PET series at work:biggrin

For me, I never liked the keyboards on the speccy

It has to be the Commodore 64 for me. All those hours spent reading the 'coding' pages of Commodore Format only to type 'RUN' and either be greeted by a brown blob on the screen if the code worked (which was rarely!) or (a more frequent scenario) throwing the magazine at the screen in a huff because a : was supposed to be a ; and you either had to know your BASIC or wait a month to find out about the typo.

Ahhh glorious days spent burning the candle thinking this months code would render fabulous worlds, a symphony of colour and spectacle unlike anything ever seen before by such young eyes.

    How underwhelmed we were...bliss!

Pfft! The Commodore's graphics were light years ahead of what anything else had to offer! And the Amiga was simply stunning! Compare that to CGA graphics!!
