IIRC it hits the mid 50's under a full load. I do have a fairly pricey cooler on my system and it's a specialist overclocking case with 7 extra fans. Sounds like the new chip will be quite a bit cooler though, with it being 45nm.

I don't know how much cooler the 45nm chips will run, they do need much less voltage for the same overclock as a 65nm chip so it should be very noticeably cooler. What case do you have?

Cool, that gives a top mark with the Vista scores. 8)
My Western Digital is quite a few points lower. I have always bought WD drives, never tried a Seagate.

My case is a Thermaltake Xaser III. I cost me a fair bit when I bought it a number of years ago, but it's been a fantastic case and I'm sure I'll be keeping it for a few more years yet. Only thing I don't like about it, is it weighs more than truck. :)

Modey, I'm sure that if you get a second HDD, drop it in and then configure it as a RAID 0 then you'll hit a 5.9.:biggrin

Heh well, I wouldn't ever bother with Raid 0 unless I had a proper Raid controller to attach the drives to. From real worlds tests I have seen most motherboards with Raid chipsets really don't perform that well, especially in Raid 0. Proper drop in raid controller that costs at least twice what the mobo did and I'm there. :)

I should probably just grab a WD Raptor at some point and use it as my main boot / system drive.

I think I might setup a real low spec virtual machine and see how crap I can get the Vista performance score.....

Looking at those stats... I'll have to just be content to be a loser... my 2-year-old C2D box won't likely beat that. :D
