virtualbox running really slowly

    I have only used 25% of my available hard disk. these are the default setting i applied. im using virtualbox 6.1

    You’re running a server with 2GB of RAM... what are you expecting? I’d recommend 4GB at a bare minimum. If your host machine is low spec you may want to just spin up a server in Azure.

    Not enough RAM and the hard drive on your host machine should be a SSD for better performance.

    tried 4gb, still running incredibly slow. im win 10 home so i cant use hyper visor, what are my other options?

    What spec is your host machine? If it is a decent spec then it may be worth upgrading to Win10 Pro – had a similar issue running MS Virtual PC many years ago as it is software based virtualisation which doesn’t offer the same performance as hardware based virtualisation.

    To give you an example I am running an i7 laptop with 3 VMs just now (DC-2GB Exchange2010-8GB Win10client-4GB) for some migration testing and the performance is fine. As I said a solid state drive makes a big difference.
