    Hi guys,

Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year :biggrin

I have two questions, I was thinking about creating my own website (something to do / create my own community). I'll probably use a message board which I'd like a lot of control over (editing).

    Is vBulletin any good?

Also, I know of a warez website run by someone I used to know, long story short, messed stuff up with my girlfriend.

Although this isnt a revenge thing, I'd like to see him lose the website as its a platform for him to spread hatred.

Anyone I can report the site to?

    Thanks guys

    Hey Dan

As the old Chinese proverb goes "when seeking revenge, always dig two graves"

vBulletin is decent but it's not free AFAIK.

    phpBB is good and free.

I know that SimonV has a lot of outlay for CF, but only he can tell you the exact figures as he ownes the site.

VB is not free or cheap, but you do get what you pay for.

VB is IMHO the brand leader and with that in mind, where else would you go ????

Revenge is a dish best served cold .... and then it all starts to sound rather juvenile. Perhaps your efforts would be best directed to studying ? :p

vBulletin is very good but they have just launched v4 and changed the licensing structure as well as increased the costs. Details at :

    www.vbulletin.com

It is still the market leader for "serious" forums and the new version has moved more to a CMS type format. This will be in competition with the main vBulletin mod - vBadvanced (www.vBadvanced.com) which also offers a cms module.

You can view other available mods for vBulletin at www.vbulletin.org

I have run several vBulletin forums in the past (and 1 currently). You may need some knowledge of php or employ others who can do that side of things for you.

Alternatively look at Wordpress (free) which has a forum plugin and also things like phpBB (again free).

    Hope that helps !

Still who am I to deny a man a bit of good old fashioned smiting. I help build a forum a while back and used phpBB, free and easy to get to grips with.

As DarkStar said "Revenge is a dish best served cold", it being a Sicilian proverb and being from that part of the world I would add, sometimes the dish is also best flaming hot!!

    Good luck with it

As much as I have to agree with the comments on revenge, if hes running a warez site he deserves to burn!

    http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_do_I_report_illegal_warez_sites

theres your answer, copyright holders are more likely to take an interest than anyone else.

As for forum software, mines another vote for PHPbb I've had a fair amount of contact with it in the past and I've been impressed by it.
