User cannot access file server

    Have you tried using the command line tools for managing and troubleshooting active directory? They are far more powerful than the gui tools are. I had gotten pretty good with the 2000 tools, but have barely looked at 2003 so I'm not really sure what all tools are available there. Try dcdiag, netdiag, and dsmod to see what shows up concerning that computer.

    Also, have you checked the laptop's clock to see if it is more than 5 minutes out of sync with the domain controller and/or the file server? If a computer's clock goes more than five minutes out of sync that computer cannot access a lot of things. Five minutes is the default setting.

    Just for the record, this problem is history. :)

    Wanna know how I did it ? A clean copy of Windows always solves the problem. :tongue
