Yeah, the minimum spec only shows that the OS *can* be installed on it. Anything lower and it should bomb out when installing.

Well slap my legs and call me Betty!!!

    System Requirements for Win XP

Min Processor Type: Intel Pentium - 233 MHz
    Min RAM Size: 64 MB

You can ditch some of the visual effects in XP and do some other tweaks if you want to try and run it on a low spec PC.

The problem is when you add AV it will probably bring the PC grinding to a halt. :blink

Blimey 100 pages while on holiday?

err, My story Hmmmm..like to do things different that's why I never introduce myself in the Newbie section. Guess it's too late now! :p :biggrin

Well I was working at the local council for a while in a local Library, got dumped in the deep end on a IT help desk, no training, just told to get on with it!! I loved it:p

So I applied to CT and NITLC and after seeing the cold sales man found this place through Google!

That was back in May 2006. Then in August 2006, I did some voluntary work in IT Dept. They were so impressed they offered my a job on a temporary contract! Since then I bought Mike meyers A+ book and the A+ passport book and did self study for a while before getting some training videos from
    Time4training.

I have always like computers and been to LAN games and set a few LAN Session up with mates. I am doing IT for the Job satisfaction rather than the money. Although the money does pay the bills:biggrin

Before that I was working in the Chemistry Industry, long hours, good pay, but no life or Job satisfaction:(

Life's too short! So I decided to do something I enjoy!

I have an old Dell dimension xps333 with 96Mb that I was given to mess about with, I have xp pro on that and it's not quite as bad as I thought it would be, still does my head in though. Just use it so my daughters can access the internet now as I'm normally glued to my own PC.

Ouch! the thought of seeing Blue screen of death again!

    No thanks.

In the OS section of A+ it asks question on system properties or device drivers in win98 and win2k. So I have just installed Win95 and Win 98. WinXP really does make things easy for you with those Roll back drivers and plug and play option:biggrin

Yup, XP is much easier to support in relation to the older Windows operating systems. I remeber supporting NT and you had to reboot after giving the NIC a static IP! :ohmy

Interface was a big step forward from Windows 3.1, for example there was no start button in 3.1.

In a server environment there wasnt an Active Directory which was introduced in 2k.

Is NT still covered in the A+? :blink

8th May 2007 is the OS exam.

Time it just right with bank holiday!

They used to send employees on A+ fast track courses or give one day in the week to College for staff wanting to gain the A+

The problem was out of 8 people, 6 people got the A+ and then left a month after they got the cert.

1 failed four times and got sacked for downloading P@rn at work and the other Cheated on the exam. So they dropped the option to train employees. So I am doing it in my spare time with my own money.8)

I think NT has been chopped for the new objectives, and its just win2k, xp.

Not 100%, tell you when I get my Meyers book :p

Yes NT 4.0 I read it was based on the Win95 GUI, but there's no picture shots in my A+ book.:(
