    Ok,
this is now ranked my number 1 of all hated software (at the moment).

Bloke at work had his kids download something last night (a web game or somit) and the option to install this came up. Children being children they clicked yes :dry.

Now hes got serious issues on his machine.
He has a process (adware.agent.BN) that keeps informing him of a virus infection, changing his home page to ultimate defender and from what i can tell allowing access for lots of junk to be downloaded.

    Steps so far.

Disabled all startup process via the msconfig menu.
Selectivly disabled services that are not windows specific.
Installed, updated and scanned using spyware doctor (my registered version so fully updated) - to which there were 436 infections
Hes running norton on his machine at the moment.

Im googling defender at the moment and was wondering if anyone has had experience with this piece of S*(T program and could offer some advice.

    Cheers peeps

    Sounds like the smitfraud trojan.

Castlecops has a wiki page that give proceedures for clearing this up, along with pointers for free downloads to assist.
