Hello all. I have been using Adobe Photoshop and Fireworks to edit images, but I need to make images load quicker on webpages.

How can I make the files smaller to load quicker, but keeping the image the same dimensions ?

    Cheers...Angus

I tend to use Fireworks for optimizing my graphics rather that photoshop.

The best way I have found is the go> File> Export Preview> then change the file format to gif, palette to adaptive then drop the colours down until I get to the point where the image will go no less colours without loosing the quality. Then export the image.

You can see the file size in the preview window to get an idea of the size before you export and you also get an estimated time to download on a 56k modem which is handy.
