Hello UCM. I am a brand new member of this forum, and you will probably recognise my name. David Abel of Time4Training.

Hopefully the moderator will permit me to set the record straight. You mention in your last post you had spoken to Leon at CATS (Computer Assembly Training School).

The business has NOT split in two directions at all.
Leon was NEVER a founder of CATS. This is vitally important for the forum members to know, as I am aware since my retirement, some students sent money to CATS for courses, and never received the material - nor were they provided with a refund.

    The facts are these:
I alone founded CATS about 15 years' ago.
Over the years I specialised in classroom courses namely PC Assembly and Technicians courses all leading to A+ Certification with CompTIA. MCSE, CCNA and N+ were available through home study.

CATS had premises in Banbury, where the classroom was based and all administration was taken care of by Carla. Carla became a trainer, teaching PC Assembly and Dreamweaver.

In December 2005 I closed the doors to classroom training. Carla was told to look for another position. January 2006 I advertised all the CD Rom training courses on eBay (over £20k retail value and they sold for under £3k). The winning bidder was Leon Ajao.
Leon collected the material from the Banbury premises where he met me and Carla. He enquired what was happening to the classroom, the chairs, desks, computers etc. I told him they would all be sold as the business was closing because of my retirement.

Leon saw the opportunity. He asked Carla if she would work for him, and I agreed to sign a contract allowing Leon access to the name CATS, to have the BT phone number, full access to the student database, the CATS website and the assignment of the lease of the building into his name. I left all the desks, chairs, computers for him to use.

Leon asked whether I would agree to update the courses on DVD, as and when required. This I gladly agreed to as video/editing is a hobby of mine. Most of our training was done 'in house' so I had no objection in updating the courses. The first one being the new 2006 A+ syllabus.

I also agreed to teach A+ classroom courses for Leon.

Carla walked out after 3 months. (She had been with me 7 years). Leon never replaced her. The doors to the premises opened maybe once a week - and not for more than four hours. All telephone calls were diverted to his home.

In December 2006 I refused to be associated with him any longer. There were financial issues (which cannot be discussed here because of pending legal action). The new A+ course was filmed, edited and made available for distribution. Now it is available direct from me time4training.com

Leon has not been given access to the premises in Banbury since December. A lien was put on eveything he owned in the premises, and I understand the proceeds were allocated to creditors. The premises are empty and closed, and in the hands of a commercial letting agent.

It is very sad to see the demise of CATS. For 10+ years it was a priviledge to assist literally hundreds of students attain their A+ Certification. Many went on to become MCSE / CCNA and networking engineers.

Any forum members who sent money to CATS, and never received the product, please contact me direct. I hope this has made it clear that Leon had absolutely nothing to do with establishing CATS - he had EVERYTHING to do with CATS since I sold him the training programmes on CD Roms.

Congrats on an excellent forum. Great to see members having access to such a wealth of information. If ever I can be of help, in any way, please let me know.

    All the best, David Abel

Thanks Dave for the update, it's good to see your still in IT business. Your training videos are excellent.:biggrin :rocks

However, I do wonder while this transaction was taken place, between you leaving CATS and Leon taking over. Did you take the time to inform the students of CATS on the CATS Forum???

I have lots of emails from students on the forum regarding this.
So many dissapointed people asking that burning question what's happen to the CATSForum?

I have just checked the CATS forum. My last two posts are no longer on there.

The intention was for me to back out gracefully, and this should have happened in February - but the legal process took longer than expected and the handover was a couple of months later.

Leon and I agreed he would mail every student with new offers from Cybernet Interactive - which would be selling the CATS courses he had purchased. It was absolutely agreed he would let all students know.

In March I posted a message on the forum advising and informing that Leon was occupying the Banbury training centre, and that I would be involved with updating courses for him. That message is not on the forum and I know I did not remove it.

Students involved with CATS over the past 5-10 years know Carla and I worked tirelessly on behalf of students - and of course it provided me with a good lifestyle too. If it were not for students I would not be able to retire to Florida and still own a home in the UK.

It is my love of teaching, and imparting knowledge, that instigated me starting T4T - originally intended for the USA market. I have been left with no alternative other than market the training myself in the UK - this should have been Leon's responsibility.

I regret my message on the forum was removed. Many of the students maintain contact with me, and I have always been willing to offer advice as and when asked.

That's all I can really state on the matter. There is a whole lot that will come to light one day - but at the present I have to be cautious. All the best, David Abel
