So, due to COVID-19, I have a lot of spare time working from home.
Long story short, I was made redundant a few weeks ago but employed till the 9th of June unless something else comes up.

I am at the final stage of an interview process so if that goes well, I will be in a new job within a month hopefully. But this will be IT Support (Which I want to move away from). But beggars cant be choosers.

Add to that, our IT Queue is a bit slow (Hence my redundancy) I have time to kill from home.

I have just completed a Python course, and thinking of doing my Linux+ and maybe an AWS Cert. How would this look for a someone looking to move out of Support? I don't just want a random concoction of exams. I feel that AWS and Linux, along with my CCNA (and a bit of python thrown in) would look quite favourable.

Just be good to get an external view.

    Thanks

Perhaps @Pseudonym can comment. I could be wrong but those sorts of skills sound like they're taking you on your way to being an SRE.

We're doing our World Wide Kickoff remotely this week but I've been doing a bit of study inbetween. Need to renew my VCP then get this VCAP smashed. It's keeping my mind occupied for sure, plus there's all the vSphere 7.0 goodness to look forward too soon :)

We can all keep each other company on here. IT Certification or any sort of IT training is definintely a good way to keep your mind off things going on in the world I find

I can confirm that linux/cloud is a very good combination if you want to go on to be an SRE. Networking is also vital too, so a CCNA always comes in handy. I think that people with these skills are extremely in demand at the moment so if you're wanting to get out of support, it's a very good bet.

    Best of luck.

I'm learning SQL with my new down time.. I'm not one for studying tbh, but as I am trapped in doors at times I'd usually be out thought I may aswell go for it as I've wanted to for awhile now.
