After the farce in America need I say anymore. I follow F1 every week and I am devestated, never mind the American People, that I am forced to see this parade of 6 cars. :x:x:x

Yup it's a complete joke. I always look forward to the USA race, and this is ridiculous. I don't think it's anything as dramatic as 'the end of F1' but it's certainly not good.

Not a scandal caused by the US, Mitzs - more of a shambles that happened in the US.

    Here's THE STORY

Aha, I turned the TV on tonight and saw it was about 5 laps in to the race. The leader came around and only 6 cars came up. Then the list showed about another 15 as Out:eek: and I thought it must have been one really bad first corner to have so many out so early. I also thought what a joke as I turned the tv off. Should've known it was due to petty mindedness.:x

I must still be missing something. If their vehicles weren't up to standards why should they be allowed on the track?

They were, but chose not to race - thats the point. More exactly, they had been given a safety warning from Michelin about the tyres they were using (having safety implications), and, as the FIA wouldn't allow a slight config change to the end of the track, they elected to pull out of the race.

A CAR RACE, A CAR RACE wtf IS SHE ON :x:x

Mitzs formula 1 is not just a car race, it is......................
    RACING

fast cars and everythng that goes with that.

The race has nothing to do with the American people exept for those that paid good $ to watch it. F1 is different to Indy Cars.

It is just a damn shame that the teams couldn't sort out a solution to the tyre problem and give the American public a race for their $'s

I know nothing of the implications of commercial sponsorship deals here, but is it possible to use a different manufacturer's tyres with around 24 hours notice ?

Surely the "affected" teams may have thought of this ?

But there are only 2 tyre suppliers to F1 teams, Michelin and Bridgestone.

Bridgestone supply to Ferrari, Jordan and Minardi the rest, that's the other 7 teams all use Michelin. Therefore if the Michelin teams all pullout of the race then you get a race like todays :x

Calm down AJ, before you hurt yourself. Its just 4 round pieces of rubber with a piece of metal sitting on top of them going down the road. Nothing to blow a artery over AJ.

4 round pieces of rubber WTF I need a stiff drink to get over this. Typical female attitude to Motor Racing

and it ain't typically female. I was disgusted. Terribly.

I don't think commercially there was any way they could have switched tyre manufacturers. That would have meant dumping legal contracts, lawsuits, all sorts of fun. With a track temp of 46C last time I heard (switched off after 15 mundane laps) I can see why the temps were extreme... but a sport with the kind of funding of F1, and companies of that power - they know some of the extremes that happen. Why didn't they do testing to prevent it?

And why didn't they just put in a bloody chicane?

Opps  Sorry Arroryn no offence intended there.

But I think that this will be the end of F1 in America, which is a damn shame as it's normally one of the beeter races on the calendar

lol. No probs. I wasn't offended - but it made you twitch

It's a shame, because this season was shaping up as interesting without Schumacher's dominance. We'll just have to wait and see.

Well I for one am not happy at all. F1 is the best motor racing sport ever. I first got into it the season Damon Hill became champion and I was hooked, I went off it a couple of years ago cos a certain German kept on winning and thus it got boring, but this season has been great so far altho I havent been able to watch many races, but reading the paper today I couldnt believe what I was reading and as our friend Bernie says "I feel sorry for the public" Hear Hear!
