    can any of you qualified techs tell me if you use Systemroot a lot in your everyday work?

    I get the impression that either you don't want to - or there is some other problem.

    Now please cut'n'paste what you are doing so we can explain.

    I'm not a qualified tech but I can tell you you might need it in Windows more than DOS.

    If you open Windows Explorer and in the address bar type %systemroot% and press enter it will take you to the windows folder. In my case C: \WINNT

    If you have more than one operating system folder on your C Drive (for example you have upgraded from windows 98 to 2000) then %systemroot% will take you to the correct windows folder.

    Simerally if a company have different operating systems throughout their machines then you can create shortcuts with %systemroot% without having to specify C: \WINNT or C: \WINDOWS.
