u know dales, I have to agree with drum_dude. im not cheating anything here...all im saying is...its on a rare occasion that I watch anything over the internet that is being broadcasted at the same time on a TV...when the World Cup was first put on the BBC website to watch...I was still going to bars to watch the England matches...when I could easily have stayed at home and watched them on my PC via the website...but i didnt...so really...im not cheating anyone or anything...i just merely like to watch something now and then...so I dont see why one should have to pay over the nose for something that he doesnt use everyday...as for Formula 1...im a fan and I just want to see Lewis Hamilton crowned World Champ come Nov 2008 :biggrin

FYI first hit on Google "TV Licence broadband"

    TV Licence

Not taking sides but read into that as you will.

The only thing I will say is, if you thing you need a TV licence that you should get one if you're unsure then you should check with the authorities. The onus is up to you. If you get caught then don't come crying.

As far as Im aware, the BBC do not get all of the revenue from the TV Licence, they do get a lions share, however the rest is shared out between ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.

Even if the BBC come to your house because you havent got a licence they can not come in and check for definitave proof unless they have a warrant and a copper present. But if you let them in then thats a different story.

When I was a student living in halls most of us didn't have a license the beeb would come round all the time, all you had to say is come back with a warrant but they never did.

It isn't the BBC who comes to your house, it is the TV Licencing Authority.

True, but greenbrucelee is also correct in saying you don’t have to let anyone into your home if they don’t have a search warrant. They will probably try and pressure you into letting them in, the heavy handed scare tactics used to enforce TV licensing are well documented online.

True unless as already stated that you let them in.

I also think this thread has already gone way off topic.
