I've just finished the Intro to CS course which was good as there was a lot of material I didn't know. I'll be watching the recordings as I'll be sleeping mostly during the webinars' scheduled times.

Morning, OK first off, this is going to be INTENSE.

After the Webex last night, they expect you to be at the half way point by Jan 10th! The course starts on the 28th of Dec so pretty crazy!
I have stupidly left my notes at home. Will update tonight. Also attending the meeting tonight (10:30pm GMT).

Yeah, the timelines do look pretty tight! I've heard a few people saying that the first one's pretty easy so I guess they suggest allocating less time to it than the second one..

Oh yeah, I got accepted onto the course. Got 89% on the entrance exam. Cohort 6...7 would have worked better, but I'll make it work.

Will be paying close attention to this thread!

Oh boy, this is going to be a heavy schedule but I'll give it my best shot. In the end, regardless of the exam results, I hope to have gained some good insight into these topics I know very little about. Good luck everyone!

Ok, seem to have early access and MAN THIS IS GOING TO BE INTENSE.

Working through the first module at the moment which is all about TCP/IP.
Its study videos, and a paragraphs of text so I am reading the material, then watching the video. They have 4 or 5 questions at the end of each sub module, then Labs and Quizzes at the end of the whole module.

I highly recommend accessing the pre-course meetings as it does clear things up. They have VERY strict timelines so I am putting everything into this. I want to have the first exam done asap, then concentrate on the second exam which is meant to be a little harder.

My advice so far would be, dont take this course lightly. I have signed up for all the tutor modules that are available at the moment. Some are 6am (GMT) so I have spoken to my line manager and asked if they can give me some leeway on working hours etc and thankfully they have said yes.

Will keep you guys updated, just heading back into Reserved IP addresses. Its intense, but I am learning some interesting stuff.

    Past students reckon:

"Students in past classes say it translates into 2-3 hours a day."

I can do this most days but the struggle to put in 3 hours after a long day with O/T will be tough going and just hope the information retention is there.
Materials seems well laid out so far.

Sorry for the lack of updates. This is intense!

Currently starting Module 4 (14 Overall).
Usually about 15 lessons then a 60 stage lab and finally a test. You need to hit Bronze at least on every Module until you are allowed to apply for a Exam Voucher.

    The Milestones are BRUTAL!
Need to be at the halfway point of SecFND between Jan 28th and Feb 3rd. Need to have the SecFND course completed by Feb 24th.

At the moment, I am doing OK. Gold, and a Bronze but need to go back to module 2 as I missed out on a medal by a couple of points.
I am using the LiveLessons videos for my commute so I am hoping that will help me cement some aspects.

I have signed up for ALL the study meetings. Some are at 5am, some at 11pm and others at 11am. I have negotiated with work that I have an extended lunch break by coming in early or staying late so I can attend.

Back to work, then Lunch time, will be module 4 in the meeting room :)

Any questions, just fire them over.

I think you can, but you have to pay for the exams rather than get the Voucher(s)

Soon as I am a bit more ahead, I will do a longer indept post.

    Cheers

    Hi @Pseudonym
Sorry for the lack of communication but this is intense.
I am almost through my first run through notes. Just finishing Linux which is a big chapter. 4 more to go.
After that, I am going to re-read all the modules and watch the videos, then hit the Mentor videos and do the Labs and tests.

Need to have all the tests done by the 18th and have at least bronze in all of them.

    No probs mate.

Cool, how you finding the linux stuff? I think that's the main thing i'm worried about. Did they provide you with books? I was under the impression it was all online

All online modules mate. To be honest, I did find the Linux stuff a bit dry. I have just finished it, and I do want to delve more into Linux in all honesty, but felt it was a bit padded out materiel wise.
