fellas, easy...I was only messing...lol...anyway I have bought the books so they should be here soon...

 

We don't get commission. That's for sales. Some writers receive royalties, but we have no control over the royalties we get. The publisher cuts us a check for however many they sell to bookstores. We can't choose to take a lower royalty payment in order to discount a book.

Put it this way... if my own mother wanted a copy of the book, she'd have to go through the same bookstores you guys do.

I sure could do with a book like this. I spent a lot of time out from pc's but have returned with a vengeance lol. Infact i am gonna check amazon out soon as i finish this post.

Well...if my mother wanted a copy of my book, I'd just send her one of the author's copies I got from the publisher. That's how I can send three copies to CF via Phoenix in London. I also sent 3 copies to Tomshawk in California for a similar contest at Tech-Unity.

This is basically a promotional gig. The author usually gives copies of their book with the idea that the recipients will promote it in some way. The reason I keep harping on writing reviews on Amazon is that those reviews make a tremendous amount of difference in terms of sales rankings. If a book is considered successful, it's more likely the author will get other work from the same publisher (or other publishers for that matter).

I tried to explain the entire publishing process to my cubical mate today but there's a lot to it and I stopped when I saw his eyes roll back in his head.

 

well i doubt you have a problem with us.. im sure you will have good sales in the uk - from the server book to the street smart one!
