some NAT questions

    It goes to the 'net because it has a public IP and a route, which is handed to it by the ISP.

    Er - most people wouldn't call that a network. By network I meant multiple PCs. If you have just a single PC then the single public IP given you by the ISP will do, so you don't need NAT.
