I am all for a ban in restaurants or at times when meals are being served. However, I feel that a ban in places such as pubs and nightclubs will just create problems - alcohol induced and nicotine cravings together do NOT sound good!

Are nightclubs going to provide a smoking room or are they going to let people in and out all night - surely not good as this will create security problems in terms of blocked fire exits etc, or do they just expect people to go all night without smoking - I foresee that people will either not bother to go, will just smoke anyway (especially after a few :beers2 ) or there will be more arguaments and violence towards the latter stages of the evening.

As a non-smoker I hate waking up after a night out and smelling smoke in my hair and skin but have come to expect it (as I do the hangover!) and understand that for some the idea of a night out involves smoking as well as drinking - that is their choice and in places as large as nightclubs I don't tend to notice the smoke anyway (except for those ignorant people who blow smoke right in your face or burn you with their fag as they stumble around in their drunken state of course!).

anyone actually in a night club will wish the ban wasnt in effect after a week or two

what do you think a room full of dancers smells like if its NOT smelling of smoke?
    exactly

i think its stupid to make private establishments NON exempt, they have effictivley extended it from a public smoking ban to a 'smoking ban'
