I may now be level 3
and I may have just died the first time
I'm do have this cool dragon shout thingy though
and I'm on my way to speak to these greybeard fellows
I need a long range spell though, spark and flames dont seem to have the reach that I would expect :)

You could always use a bow (enchanted or otherwise) unless you're specifically trying to down everything with magika only and no hand weapons.

You can be fairly abusive on conjuration stuff Phoenix.

I had a follower, a war dog conjuration spells so most fights were 4 v 1 haha.

If you need range the next spell I think you get is fireball and that is long range... And explosive!

You can also pick up some tasty staffs too. I have a number of them, including a flame atronach one that allows you to summon a creature to kick butt with fire while you hold back. There's also a shout later on that let's you... well that would be spoiling the fun... :)

The shout that spoils the fun is unrelenting force, splits any couple up in a jiffy :)

I got firebolt as soon as I could, and the dual casting perk. I nearly have the full constellation for destruction magic now. When you get the higher perks the damage gets... interesting. Can't wait for my highest level shock :)

With my single-handed attacks, I am taking people's heads off in the cut scene type pieces. Weird!

you know I forgot that this was a 'play however you want' style game
im still stuck in the 'must use magic, and must wear cloth' realm
interestingly enough, this snow troll still killed me in two hits with cloth or iron armor on, and my spells sucked against him haha

i have to find an interface guide coz changing spells all the time via that manual process is a night mare, same with quaffing a potion :/

Still enjoying it a lot bar some of the bugs.

E.G - Two dragons appeared, one flew into another got stuck and starting spazzing, framerate dropped like a stone and the game hung so I had to turn off the console. Win!

Azura's Star quest is a stupidly awesome though. Instant reusable grand soul gem for simple bandit kills? Yes please.

Thanks for that, that's one of my side quests I hadn't quite got round to yet. And I have so many depleted magical weapons it's not even funny.

Oops. My bad. Think of it as a top tip!

Go and do the quest though, it's very useful!

Popped on last night for the first time in a couple of days and had my hardest moment so far. Popped outside of Whiterun to pick up some animal skins for leather for smithing and ran into an Elder Dragon, naturally chased it down and killed him but he had decided to also attack 2 giants and 3 mamoths and kill none of them. Dragon dead they all turned on me, used up half my supply of healing pots to get through that. F***king dragons.

Out of interest has anyone completed the main quest line and if so does it prevent any other quests or quest lines being completed?

I have a friend that has, and it appears not. She has only just started the Companions quest line for example.

That's where you want to be playing a stealth ranger... 3x sneak damage and 25% crits when your base bow+arrow damage is 142 rocks - and then add on some fiery goodness. muahaha.

Anyone got this on PC. Compared to the console version is it better, same or worse?

I assume the graphics will be better on PC and you're able to mod it... but then you have to contend with Steam.

I am quite happy travelling around on Xbox.

I actually like Steam as it allows you to install games easily on multiple devices and lets be honest the 2nd hand market in PC games is dead so you can never sell games on anyways.

So I completed Skyrim at level 39. I could have done it a long long time ago, and indeed they recommend they don't level that high to complete it, as it's an anticlimax. I see what they mean now, though the quests before it had leveled enemies in it, so it was still an interesting challenge in the build up.

So now I'm a Dragonslayer and the Archmage of Winterhold. I have a bug on this save game, so I can't complete the Blades quest. My character can't sneak for toffee. My two best skills by a long shot are soft ones (smithing - 100, alchemy - 89). But I have Destruction at 68, one-handed at 64 and heavy and light armour in the mid to late 50s.

So... what next? Was thinking of doing the Companions. Or the Dark Brotherhood. Or just playing LotR or Rage.
