Recently got called out to look at a laptop that apparently wouldnt connect over a wireless network. Once i got there, true enough the laptop wouldnt connect to the Internet but local network connectivity was available. Checked the router (Siemens Gigaset SE587 as mentioned in the title) and once logged on to it found a bunch of settings werent correct

So basically after the following :

    Channel set to auto

Pppoe set up with correct log in details

New connection made on the laptop

A connection was established. Now the owner had simply set it up and followed instructions as provided with the router by the ISP and installed the software. Should be pretty straightforward !

So my point being, why on earth do these companys send out routers with incorrect settings ? They must realise that not everyone knows how to log into a router and check settings ?
