    Hi all,

We're currently looking at moving our internal virtualisation infrastructure to Server 2012. Normally when we deploy Hyper-V, we install the full version of Windows Server, and have Hyper-V running on top. However, for 2012, I was wondering if it'd be more pertinent to install the stripped down 'Hyper-V only' edition.

We'll be connecting several servers to a PowerVault iSCSI SAN. These servers will be the only things connected to the SAN so at least one of them will be need to be running the Dell software required to configure these SANs. Has anyone had much experience with this? What I'm wondering is, exactly how cut down is the Hyper-V edition of Windows Server? Can we install software on it?

If anyone has used this version of Windows, did you see any real performance increase compared to the fully-blown Windows Server?

    Thanks,

    Gav
