Salary and Cost of Living

    I live in Central London, and I pay a hefty premium because of it! If you want to live anywhere half decent, your looking at paying £600 rent per month + bills.

    My monthly outgoings are:

    Rent £750
    Council Tax £108
    Gas/Electricity £80
    Travel £150 (Drive out to Essex each day)
    Mobile £40
    Food £150

    as well as other things that don't apply to everyone.....

    £200 loan payment
    £160 Student loan (automatically deducted from my wages)
    £100 Barclaycard Payment

    Once you take into account things like having the odd beer at the weekend, and the occasional takeaway treat, I'm left with about £5 a month!

    I'm not earning great money, but it's not too bad considering..... and yet I don't have a chance in hell of ever buying a place in London! :-(
