    Hi all

I have a RIS server at work that has been running fine now for about 3 years then the other day i went to kick off an install of windows xp SP2 on a client machine after doing all the usual prestaging get the login screen no problems then the OS selection screen with no problems

When it goes to the screen that says the disk will be wiped press return it sits for ages and if i go to the RIS server the CPU usage is at 100% and the file using all the CPU is LSASS.EXE which is a windows file

It worked ok 2 weeks ago so cant understand what has happened since

Any ideas as i seem to have hit a dead end at the moment and bar doing a complete reinstall of RIS and redoing all my images iam stumped

    Help Please

    cheers
    Mick

    Hi mojorisin,

Are you sure that your server is virus and malware free? I'm asking because theres seems to be serval virus that hides as LSASS.EXE. Here are some links you might want to check out.

Did it start with l or L. What I'm finding is saying that if it started with L than that is the saser virus.

"There is very important that you see in Windows Task Manager\processes is it lsass.exe or lsasss.exe !!! Lsasss.exe is Saser virus! "

the running process is LSASS.EXE and it runs normally until i start a remote install then it goes to 100% CPU and even if i switch off the remote client the cpu useage stays the same

?? Don't know why it just stopped working :(
