Just died - my lovely old iiyama 21" CRT monitor - on which the horizontal drive has failed.

It was *heavy* and nearly broke my back getting it off the desk!

Now I have to find a replacement.

Sorry for your loss. I myself just last week was mourning the loss of a 4Gb hard drive that had been in a little old SFF Deskpro that I've used and abused as a firewall for about eight years - I feel your pain

 

my prayers are with your and the CRT...
...My the burnt pr0n images on the monitor stay with it forever!

 

kind of funny because obviously you are the one actually feeding the trolls..

My CRT Panasonic TV is on its way out. It makes a buzzing sound when it's on, a farting sound when you switch it on and also when you mute it and un-mute and every so often takes about 10 seconds to switch on.

I have only had it since early 2000 but that being said I have probably clocked up 25000 hours of usage on it.

Will probably have to get a new one next year

Harry, i know how you feel. I lost my Ilyama years ago and it took a few months or mourning before i could pluck up the courage to replace it. The time eventually came though, when i knew it was time, time to upgrade to a new sparkiling LCD.

What is your problem. For one thing you seem to have some chip on your shoulder about what ever, please sort that out as this is a decent forum and you wond find many better or helpful. As for Harry, when you submit a technical query he is one of the first to reply if he can and gives a detailed response, for which he deserves some respect for. Now ive seen a couple of your posts and i really think you should give yourself some kind of talking too that your parents obviously forgot to do.

Manners cost nothing and it doesnt take any effort to be nice, if yoiu cant say anything nice then id rather you didnt say anything all.

Yes it still sounds liek my Girlfriend, she does fart when you roll her over and takes an age to turn on or get warmed up. And liek said monitors, i have considered trading her in for a newer model, but then i do have the relaibilty of her and its sticking with whats familiar. Its always hard to replace something well used, familiar but loved!

 

I'm still using a 19" Iiyama CRT Vision Master and I love it!

I tried going to TFT for a while but it just couldn't compete with the performance of the CRT for gaming.

The only thing I miss is having all that desktop space.....
