Retro obsession

The older I get, the more I become obsessed with all things retro. I find myself watching videos of old computers and consoles that I had as a kid. Games that I've played. Old TV adverts and anything nostalgic. Do any of you do that?

I need a bit more space but when I get it I know I'll start to collect Commodore computers and games. It crossed my mind tonight while looking at the top posters on here, that although we study for and pass modern IT certifications on here, there's an element of retro feel to Certforums for me, because I look at the members who have come and gone over the years. Some went onto big things, many, some moved away from IT or just this place. Members like SimonV, BlueRinse, BosonMike, Boysie, MrCheeks, Wizard, Craigie and many more. I don't know, I still enjoy hopping onto Certforums to see what's new and to see if any of the people I've swapped messages with for years have posted anything. BosonMike still has wildly the most posts, over 10k more than me! I doubt anyone will ever catch him up.

I'm on facebook and twitter, oh and linkedin, but there's something simple and straightforward about a forum that I really like. All about the text and content, not so much the graphics

Yeah, I kinda do that with consoles (which is funny as I'm not really a console person now a days)... I've got a few models of the older Xboxs, a couple of more recent older Nintendo consoles. What I want to do is collect the older nintendo and Atari consoles, maybe even the older Sega consoles

 

Me too. I’m probably going to get my garage converted at some point and for once I’ll have a space in the house that’s purely for me. If I get that it’ll be game on I envisage nerdy lighting. Cool desk and chair. Consoles on the walls etc. I’d love to have some carts and cassettes too. I know it can all be emulated but I like the idea of picking up old games from car boot sales

 

LOL I've just been playing Pac Man. This was my game in the early 80's.

 

An absolute classic. Love that. Donkey Kong. Asteroids. Frogger. Pitfall. Jungle hunt. Space invaders.
