That's a great bit of news for you - it means you should be able to get all the experience you want as they seem to want to let someone learn 'on the job'. Best thing about this is that when you muck up (and you will, everyone does) no-one will be standing over you shouting whilst you;re trying to fix the problem!

However, I must say it doesn't reflect well on the company if they're getting rid of anyone who commands a good salary - sounds like the bean counters have taken over. I have lost count of the number of times I've seen companies with great IT staff end up getting rinsed dry because they have a Catbert come in and tell their finance bods they are 'paying them too much money'. They make all the guys with experience and high-level tech skills redundant and leave it all up to nobby the braindumper to look after... Of course, the first time there is the slightest problem with the infrastructure, nobby ends up making it ten times worse and they have to call in ridiculously highly-paid troubleshooters to sort it out.

Luckily enough for them, they've given it to YOU, so we know that won't happen. It sounds like a fantastic opportunity for you and if, after a couple of years they won't give you the massive raise that your skillset and experience command at that point, you can give them the finger :biggrin

You scare me! For my MCSA, I thought i'd only need to have the 70-290, then 70-291 (or another 29*as I have MCDST and 70-270 already) ... is this not correct? Please can someone clear this up?

(Obviously then, If i'm not doing lots of research / late hours etc in my new job, then I'll start on 70-294 etc etc...

Correct! 270, 290 and 291 are mandatory, your MCDST can count as your elective.

Now thats the way to think. Not alot of people get this kind of chance. So take it and run with it girl. If you don't already, take notes at the end of each day of things you had to do. You never know when it may come in handy down the road. Plus if you ever called to task on something, you have a record of what you have done. The way your going you'll be the next IT manager! Go get'em Lee!
