Private or Public Sector?

    Very true, almost unbeatable and that's the pension scheme in the public sector. I also like what I do and would continue to give me best at work regardless of some slackers being there or not. Cheerio:)

    That ain't true either any more - certainly not for people who have joined recently anyway. The 'good civil service pension' is a myth nowadays. If you've been in the public sector ten years or so then your pension is pretty damn good. The more recently you joined, the worse it is.

    That's true, my wife's civil service pension is alot better than mine, mine's still better than alot of private pensions though :)

    True, however what I got now is a lot better than what I would have got in a private firm. My total service in the public sector is six years and hopefully would be some more years to come. Fingers crossed:)

    I agree with this, I work for the public sector and after numerous tries to get a permanent contract, I wasn't succesfull. Soon as the credit crunch started all fixed term contracts not being extended including mine :(
