Hi all. Just looking for a bit of info on preparing a win 2003 domain for an upgrade to win 2008.
Looking on technet I have found the information for doing this but I just want to make sure I understand it right.

As far as I understand, I need to prepare the forest first by updating the ad schema and then after the changes replicate throughout the domain I can then prepare the domain for a 2008 domain controller. Right?

    That's what we did:

    adprep /forestprep (first) then
    adprep /domainprep (second)

    -Ken

EDIT: If your 2003 DC's are 32bit, you'll need to run the 32 bit version of adprep (adprep32), it's on the Windows 2008 r2 disc

Yup, you also have the option of running adprep /rodc for a read only DC if this is something that may be of use to you.

If not you don't have to run this though.
