This questions goes out to everyone that's already done with their A+ cert.

Just wondering what your final scores were in relation to the scores you were getting on the practice tests. My cert tests are in 2 weeks and right now I'm just barely failing the practice tests by 1 or 2 questions. I'm not going to stop studying, but it's pretty discouraging when you keep seeing "You Failed!"

Of course, I'm taking into account what I'm missing and focusing on those topics.

From what I remember I was getting like 840-880/900 on the practice and on th real thing I got 760-790 on both exams. From what I've heard people do 10-15% worse on the real exam.

    Anyways good luck buddy.

i passed both of my test (transcenders) around 600 (core) and 700 (os), in the real life, just failed core 505 i think and passed os, i think it was around 700... have to take my fist out and sort the core before the time runs out

    Hi MopeyMartian,

    Welcome to Cert Forums

For practice testing you should be scoring 90% or better. Nothing else will do. It is the only way you will have a good chance at passing the real thing.

I think 90% is a little high for an exam that has a pass mark of about 60%. I was getting 80 - 90 % on my practice exams and scored something like 830 on the hardware and 750 on the core.

    Hi Baba O'Riley,

80-90 is good, 90+ even better. The pass mark for A+ is 70%.

Its all about walking into the exam room with confidence. So why not set your self a good standard. I am not a believer in doing things by grades. ie A, B , C. Nor do IT exams offer that luxury.

You either pass or fail. If, having spent £107 or more to sit an exam, I would bl***y well make sure I passed.

Wise words indeed Baba.I set myself a target of 800 for both my A+ exams and used Transcenders and preplogic's practice suites.A week before my Core exam I was hitting 90% and above on the tests,BUT,by that time I had memorised most of the Q&A's.It payed off though as I scored over 800 in the exams proper.

Don't be TOO reliant on the practice scores, but do use them to target weak areas in your studies.

    Howdy MopeyMartian,

    Welcome to Cert Forums.:biggrin

When studying for A+ I was averaging 85-95% on the practise papers towards the time i took my exams. If you're only just failing the MM cd test by a few marks, you're already averaging +70% now with 2 weeks hard study focussing on the area's you're weakest at you should be ok.

In my exams I got 700ish for each exam
As long as you know your stuff you'll be fine :thumbleft

    Hi All,

The current pass marks required are 57.2% and 56%

The pass marks for the new tests are -A+ Essentials - 75% and exam 220-602 - 78%

I would personally make sure to pass the current exams and quickly.

Your real score on any exam will tend to be lower than your scores on mock exams. One of the major reasons is "test anxiety" since you aren't particularly worried about passing or failing a mock exam. Also, no matter how well written mock exams are, the real thing always manages to throw you a curve or two.

True enough Trip, but on the other side of the coin, I took much more time on the real exams. When doing practice exams I rarely go back over my answers.

I think you *know* when you are ready to take the exam. The ‘test’ exams can give you an indication of your progress but nothing else.

Just to turn this thread on its head I was getting 30-40% using MeasureUp questions for the 70-290 but took the exam anyways, got around 800 if I remember correctly. 8)
