    I run on a treadmill at the gym if that counts....usually as a warm up though

    So far got my 2km run down to 10mins, had it closer to 9 before I tore my knee cartilege for the second time.

    That's got me thinking.....

    speed = distance x time

    2km in 10 mins

    That would be 12km in 1 hour

    1km = 0.62 miles

    12 x 0.62 = 7.44mph......is that good ? :confused2

    If you can maintain that pace over 13.2 miles you'll be looking at a sub 2hr (approx 1.42) half marathon but there is an expected degradation of performance anywhere from 5-15% depending on your training level and thats quite a pace to keep up if you havent done the distance before.
    Obviously for longer distances you adjust your pace to what you can maintain for the distance

    I prefer 10k races because i can run at my faster pace but like the endurance aspect of half marathons.
    Not sure I'd ever do a full marathon

    Heres a pace calculator

    Think it's alright (not sure what a good average would be :blink) - the thing is that when you do it on a treadmill it tends to differ quite a lot to equiv distance when 'free running'

    When I was doing regular 30 minute stints - that usually covered about 4.5 miles without getting too breathless...so 9mph...but an hours running used to work out more like 7.5mph...and done a 5k race in 20 minutes a few months back...which is about 9.3mph?

    As long as you keep getting faster then it's all good!

    I do. I can't interface it directly with my computer... but I do use the mileage and pacing data as I run.

    Did another 2 miles tonight - didn't kill me this time :-)

    As for gear - nothing different than some tracky bottoms, t-shirt, hoodie and trainers.
    As for where - around my streets locally, mixture of road and grass.
    And for when - I'm not confident running in the daylight, so its always in the dark - tonight it was just after 8pm. I'll run in the evening even during the winter!

    Well done you! :D

    :( Didn't make it - I was all up for it but was called out to a customer last thing yesterday as they lost contact with the outside world...then by the time I had gotten back eaten and waited an hour for food to go down, my husband was hoping to spend some time together (seems like we are strangers this week) - I started to mention running and could just tell it wasn't going to go down well :rolleyes:...

    ...try and get one in after yoga tomorrow or by some miracle, after work today!

    Just managed a quick refreshing lunchtime sprint.

    About 3.? miles in 22 minutes - not too bad considering it's been a few weeks again!

    Well done! I haven't done any running since last Thursday - had my birthday during the weekend, so plenty to eat and drink - and today I gave blood, so probably not the wisest of things to do at the moment! :)

    I am on holiday in America at the moment. Today I went for a 4.5 mile run along Long Beach, Los Angeles. Even though it is November it was very hot, the sun was out and not a cloud in the sky. Going to be a bit of a downer when I get home at the weekend, next week I will be running in Devon again, in 5 degrees C and probably in the rain.... but I did enjoy myself today :)

    Oops I appear to be running the Sodbury slog this weekend:twisted:

    http://www.sodburyslog.co.uk/index.php

    One of the less motivated people from another dept has decided they dont like the idea of miles of mud (the first 5 or so are on the road) so one of my regular mountain/runner friends suggested they give the race number to me and I said yes.

    Should be fun but I havent been doing the mileage lately so should be tough as well. Just how I like it. Glad I booked monday off for a long weekend now lol

    Back in work now. Took a days holiday to recover from the slog. Everything from my middle back to my little toe aches today.
    Apparently it was the muddiest its ever been but its ok you get to wade up a river at the end which washes most of it off:blink

    Very slow and very hard. There were probably only two miles of "normal" running in the whole thing.
    It was cold, wet, smelly but the most fun I've had in a race in a long time.
