Well had the exam this morning and passed...

Working with Office365 for a couple of years now, I was confident on just over 60% of the material, approx 20% were educated guesses based on some of the answers given were no where near what is should have been (or a tossup between the last two answers), and approx 20% were total guesses.

There were topics that I work with and there were topics that I don't work with. And that really reflected on my score - low 700s, but as I always say give a different set of questions and I may have gotten high 900s or I may have even failed - so a pass is a pass is a pass. So I'm thankful for that...

On to my next exam that I'll be studying for; the 70-347 Enabling Office 365 Services. Then I'm not sure whether to go for the Designing and Deploying Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 to gain the MCSE: Productivity (2019), start my studies for Azure, or the other thing I was considering is Lean Management... Before I start my next Masters module in Oct, but I'll take it one step at a time :)

Brilliant well done Ken. Clearly the on the job experience helped you there mate. Just my 2 cents but I'd get that MCSE 2019. I think it's fantastic people are still getting MCSEs after all of these years. Makes me want to go and refresh mine as I do love Microsoft solutions.

I'm being sent to Las Vegas next week for a VMware conference and might sit my first VCAP. I still love updating certifications and putting mysef to the test

Thanks mate, it was hard as I haven't done a MCP level exam in a while - well since 2013... Don't get me wrong, I've done a few other MS exams, but the MTAs and the MCE. Been concentrating on my Masters module (1 per year).

Yeah, I was considering all of them... For the MCSE, I would go for the Exchange 2016 as I've been working with it for about two years - the other modules either don't interest me, or I don't feel comfortable with. Added to that, you don't need to renew the MCSE now every years, however you get a MCSE: <Specialism> <year earned> - so for me it would be MCSE : Productivity 2019 and you can do that every year if you want...

To kick start off the Azure certification track, there's this which would lead to the AZ900 Microsoft Azure Fundamentals Exam, which I may do anyway :)

The actual MCSA: Cloud Platform (Azure) has already retired, so I assume that a new track is coming at some point...

Wow retired so soon! I guess that just shows how fast paced the cloud world is.

You're smashing it Ken it's great to see. I think it's important to keep your skills relevant however you choose to do that. I'm a little lazy so I've always liked how certification tells me what to learn. It makes it so much easier than me going off on my own tangents.

One day I might get a new MCSE just for the heck of it. I still love Active Directory and I should know more about Azure. Especially as VMware continue to deepen ties, we do Horizon in Azure and it's really impressive.

How long have you got left on your Masters mate?

I had to defer my last module back in 2017 due to ill heath, however I didn't read the fine print properly... A defer is the same as a fail for the purposes of funding... :( Because of that I couldn't face that module again, so I moved from the MSc Technology Management to the MA/MSc Open, but only 60 points can be transferred :( I've got two 60 point modules to do, but as I only do 1 module a year, I'm looking at *hopefully* finishing in 2021 (the next module starts in Oct 2019)... And that's provided I don't fail or defer any more modules...
