Ok so... I didn't go for the junior role in the end. The grade I was at meant that the recruiters felt I should go for the full solutions architect position... Which I got

My minor dilemma now is because I can earn so much overtime and on call as a server engineer, I will be down 4 to 10k depending on how hard I went at it. Plus side I'll never do overtime again in the new role and it should open up a lot of doors for me. I think I'm going to accept the new role. Scared of course, very much in my comport zone with VMware and server matters. I will have enough money to get by and yes I did ask if that was their max offer. It is.

Just thought I'd share my experience with you. I think I feel an odd mix of excitement, terror and confusion at the moment ha ha I do like a challenge.

Thanks mate, I'll probably accept the offer tomorrow and see how I get on. In our place I'll be on the same team for a month or two yet tho I'd imagine

Scary times ahead but sod it bring it on ha ha Accepted the role so its game on although my current team will probably keep me here for 2 months which is fine by me, 2 months of knowing what I'm doing before starting at the bottom again ha ha
