I'm in the process of motivating myself for my 2003 upgrade exams - 70-292 and 70-296 and I noticed the lack of a forum...

ah well...

my question really is, from anyone who has done these, how much of an emphasis is there on the command line stuff.. (in other words, must I learn the bloody switches for a lot of stuff!!!)

Good question, that's why I haven't upgraded yet - there is no forum

 

Blimey, that has reminded me - I have the 071-621 exam tommorow which I have no chance of passing.

I haven't done any study yet but from the course details I can see the following..

By the look of that you will need to know those commands and what their switches do.

 

Do you use Vista on a regular basis and have you studied for this Si?

I had a vage disturbing feeling that I recalled that to be the case. I've no problems with doing that, but I do so hate memorising switches... it's boring!

 

Nice to see others wondering about the Upgrades. I've got my VM's fired up, and even got the CBTNuggets (used 'em for 2k MCSE) Upgrade, but the MS Press book is backordered? The other two or three books available aren't getting glowing reviews, either. What are you guys using?

 

vmware server downloaded and w2k3 eval downloaded.. installing a few forests and trees as we speak!

I'm using the MS press book - it's supposed to be much better than the old ones - but as I never used the older ms stuff I can't comment.

Oh, and there's some useful videos on the ms technet webcast site

 

You really don't need a separate forum for 70-292 and 70-296. 70-292 is a combination of 70-290 and 70-291, and 70-296 is a combination of 70-293 and 70-294.
