    This is due to Microsoft's quest to stop piracy.

    Some PC building companies still offer the "XP Disc" at an extra cost, but most do not.
    You should still get an imaged version of the OS as it left the factory, which is no good to you if you have to swop major hardware (such as a motherboard). Likewise, the recovery partition - OK as long as the Hard drive doesn't fail!
