I received a big, fat envelope from Keynetics in the mail yesterday with all of the paperwork I have to fill out, employee manual and other general stuff. Guess it's happening.

My question is, since I've worked for these folks before, should I post the traditional "Day three on the job" report? :blink

First off - congrats Trip, well deserved
Second - Since this is a *new* job with a previous employer you're still owing a "Day three on the job" report :)

Beats still being out of work, doesn't it?

Three work days is three work days. After you've worked three days, file your "report" here at CF. That means, I'll be putting mine in at the end of business Tuesday, December 9th.

I really did need to give my current employer two weeks notice. I'm starting to hear just a few rumblings that some people are unhappy with me leaving. There's just a ton of work heading down the pipeline now and I have a feeling my timing (at least from their point of view) is bad.

I was going to post a Google map of where I work, but when I plug in the URL and test it, I just get the generic Google maps page. Anyway, the company's URL is here: http://www.keynetics.com/

Good luck, Trip. I know when I left my big contract company, I made plenty of noise trying to get them to find me a position in San Diego before I moved (because of my wife's job). For 2 months, people were sitting on their hands, promising nothing, and then it was a different story 2 days before I left. C'est la vie.

Your reasoning is sound and obvious to anyone that interacted with you ... time to transition into a comfy full time gig :biggrin

Thanks. I think on a "local" level, they'd like to keep me, if for no other reason than they spent a lot of time training me. However, this being a rather large organization, it doesn't make very quick changes, so I don't think there's a lot of control. On the organizational level, it's probably easier to hire and train another temporary worker, than to work to retain me.

My last day is Thursday and I start the old/new job on Friday. I feel a little intimidated as to what's waiting for me. If no one has touched any of the docs I was maintaining, I'm going to have my hands full for awhile, just doing updates.
