I was installing Norton system woks and Norton Firewall on to someone’s computer they had the computer for 6 months running it on a broadband connection with any protection until I installed the above products. When I finished updating the new Firewall and Antivirus I scanned it for viruses to find there were none is this very unusual as I thought so. :unsure

its probably just unusual cos you expected it to have some virus's?? It's very likely that they haven't recieved any
attatchments or the like, but been very lucky really.

The in laws had there pc running a year without realising they
had no virus software until the inevitable happened.

    The learning curve eh?

Probably means they haven't been visiting any *ahem* "questionable" websites. Actually, I've been trying to remember if I read anything about a virus being able to avoid detection if it was installed on a computer *before* antivirus software was installed. I can't remember what I read and can't immediately find it in a Google search. Anyone else heard something like this?
