I was very glad to see that CompTIA are creating new IT certifications that keep pace with changes in the industry I'd say. The new offerings cover the following, what do you think about this? A good move? Anything missing? Would you consider any of these? I know I'd quite like to look at the AI Essentials certainly.

I agree with what you're saying with regard to how many certications there are. As you say, back in the day, there were a few top certifications that we all wanted and now, there are hundreds. All valid I'm sure but I find it hard to know what to focus on.

That said, I'm glad some have remained. TOGAF, CISSP, VCP, A+. N+, Security+ etc in my eyes have always been there. I didn't think it was the right move to get rid the MCSE, that was probably the cert I was proudest to get because it took me 8 exams to get the security add on. If a cert today took 8 exams, there's no way I'd do it I don't think. We all did it becase we really wanted it, 4 for the MCSA, 7 or 8 MCSE.

 

I do have to say, whoever is in the marketing department of Comptia, stop and think about what you are doing...

Non-IT personnel already have no real understanding on professional certifications, there's no need to confuse IT personnel...
