Take a look at the thread in the Forum Leaders forum for some more info.

As way of a further update, I have a few more days to complete the design and then I will have a beta version for staff to test out for final design tweaks.

Once the design is complete I will be running a few test migrations to see what state the data is post migration and what I need to do about any missing or inaccurately converted data. I'm hoping we are in the new place by the new year but I have yet to see how much work needs to be done with the data migration.

I really like the new software and I hope the new design and features will meet with everyone's apporval. I will have some snapshots soon. :)

Sounds like a nice refresh is coming up. I must admit I've been quiet on the cert front and haven't been lurking around much, in fact I'm debating my next move in IT but that's a story for another thread. Thanks for the work in the backend Si, much appreciated :)

I have a question for you all about the new software, I'm working my way through the migration import and there are certain things that don't get migrated with the export/import script. I'm having to extend the script to include some of that data and one section I'm working on now is the "Likes" and "Reputation" data.

I have the likes from this software imported and working as the new software has a Likes feature, but there is no reputation feature in to import into.

So my question is do we want to keep the reputation data, I could look at a way of exporting each Reputation given to be exported as a Like but that could get messy especially if a post has both Rep and Likes. Or do we stick with the Likes only and loose the reputation data?

Also, a second question that just came to mind. There is a feature in the new software called "Trophies" which is pretty cool, basically "Trophies" are awarded for certain milestones or actions (you will see when we go live). My question is do we want to rename that feature? Is "Trophies" a suitable name? Waaaaay back when we first started CF we had "Beers" which was a popular feature which was eventually replaced my the Rep system.

Let me know your thoughts, the feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    Si :)

They actually call them "Trophies" and "Trophy Points" so maybe just leave them as "Trophies" or similar and call the points "CF Points" or "Cert Points"?

Either or sounds good. In terms of losing our rep points. I would be sad to see them go but we don't help people for the rep so if it's got to go it's got to go. Maybe we could write how many we got on our profiles or something for memory sake but it's one of those things, change is good :) Plus I'm itching to use the @ feature to grab peoples attention ha ha

Yup I'm the same, not bothered about the rep points or the likes. IMHO they don't matter so long as people get the help they need. If you need to import anything then whatever is easier for you.

Ok for 'Likes' only mate. Rep and Likes together can be confusing :)

So it has to be only one that gets imported as Likes in the new system as there are many posts with Likes and Rep by the same user in this old system. So decision made really, we will just keep the likes and no Rep will be migrated.
